Do you own rental property in the City of Raleigh?

May 3

If you do, you need to be aware of a new City of Raleigh ordinance. People who own residential rental property in Raleigh have from March 1 until April 30 to register their property under a city ordinance adopted last year.Owners also must pay at least a $30 registration fee. Registration must be renewed annually.

The City Council passed the ordinance in July to help ensure safety for renters and to hold property owners accountable for providing safe habitats and expediting housing repairs.

Property owners can go to the City of Raleigh Web site, beginning March 1, to register, download an application or find out more information about registering. Applications are also available at the City of Raleigh Inspections Department, 1 Exchange Plaza, Fayetteville Street, or by calling 807-5110.
