Happy Halloween!

Posted by admin on 10/31/08

I hope you enjoyed your Halloween. We had a ton of trick or treaters on North Main Street. My mom bought 500 pieces of candy and we gave out all of them. My dad wanted to turn on the lights that light up the second floor of our house and so my mom had to go out on the roof to be sure they were focused right. So then Gabby got out on the roof and you know how she loves that. And she was the scary roof cat for the trick or treaters. What a scene that was.

Happy Labor Day!!

Life Goes On

Sorry I've been gone for so long. We have been really busy around the house and around the law firm. It seemed that we just got done with Christmas and the Walk Through Bethlehem program when we had to start planning for the Easter sunrise service my mom organized at our church. Did you know that Easter was the earliest it has been for almost 90 years and that it won't be this early again for 90 more years. It was the first sunrise service that Wake Forest Presbyterian Church has ever held and we had over 100 folks come. It was really cold and cool too - who ordered that geese fly over at the end?

Collard Greens

It's New Years Day and we have just had the most wonderful, absolutely traditional meal. Ham, black eyed peas, collard greens and biscuits. Do you know how to cook collards? My mom slices them real thin and then cooks them along with diced country ham, diced onion and some garlic in a quart of chicken stock. After about an hour, add 1 t. crushed red pepper, 2 T. brown sugar and 2 T. vinegar and then cook until they are done. We added a teaspoon of chili garlic hot sauce too. Yum. You never had collards so good.

Happy New Years Ya'll!

So, friends, here we are again at the dawn of a new year. Have you made your New Year's Resolutions?

My first post!

Good morning. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to share my experiences here at the Drake Law Firm and my (I think) unique outlook on life and the practice of law in Wake Forest, North Carolina. First, a little about me. I was born in the barn at the Thompson House in the summer of 2005. My mother ran off with my brothers and sisters and left me alone, I can tell you it was very scary up in that barn alone for those few days which seemed like an eternity. I was so lucky the creatures of the night did not gobble me up. Mr. and Mrs. Drake found me and adopted me. I am one lucky kitten.
